The game has you earning money as you play and you can use this money to get new weapons. The progression in Army Of Two is really cool. Playing with a friend online is just awesome! The game is designed around you working as a team and one of the gimmicks is that one player can do cover fire which then makes the other invisible to enemies as they focus on the player shooting, you can use this to great tactical advantages and it is a lot of fun. This is the whole gimmick of the game and the game tries it really does try its best with the AI and to be fair it works more often than it does not, but it can still be frustrating from time to time when it does not do what you want it to do. Many of the situations that you will find yourself in the game are flat out impossible to get past with just one solider.

This is a co-op shooter and you simply must play it with a friend. The way that that they fist bump and do bro stuff is really amusing to me. It is loud, obnoxious and completely ridiculous, but it is also a great deal of fun as well. However, as a guy who loves the 80s and 90s action movies, I really dig what they did here. RE6 also has a "human-controlled enemy" mode, where other players will jump in and become the monsters/zombies from time to time (if you enable the mode), adding another layer to the campaign.Look a game like Army Of Two is not going to win any awards for its story. RE6 also has an excellent "horde mode" to play after you're done the campaigns on their many difficulty levels. Its hyper-precise controls are unparalleled no other third-person shooter comes remotely close to the level of control you have over your characters. Resident Evil 6 is an excellent local co-op game with significant emphasis on teamwork, with two-part attacks to take down regular enemies, distraction and observation required for certain bosses and puzzles, and many sections where the team is divided in a way where one player is covering the other. RE: R2 also has "raid mode" to play after the campaign is done. The second player is critical to negotiating obstacles in the environment, and setting up vulnerable points for the first player to exploit. Resident Evil Revelations 2 is an excellent local co-op game with significant emphasis on actually working together only one character gets a gun, and the other gets only melee weapons and throwables. *Borderlands 2 * & Pre-sequel have local co-op campaigns (see "Handsome collection)

If anyone thinks of anything, please let me know too! I'd love a good third person co-op game.Ĭall of Duty: Black Ops 3 has local co-op campaign.Įarth Defense Force 4.1 has a local co-op campaign. Definitely check that one out, I think you can get the first chapter for free? Resident Evil: Revelations 2 has an excellent campaign that you can do local co-op throughout (only local though). Sadly I've never even been able to try more than the first level (which seemed decently fun?) because my friends despise the game and refuse to touch it. I think the closest we have is Resident Evil 6, but as others have said on this topic, it isn't supposed to be very good. With the games above, you would interact with your buddies, help boost them up over ledges, etc. We've got plenty of third-person games, just none of them have co-op or focus on it/make it more of an afterthought. There isn't much like those on PS4, sadly, and I'm not sure why. They were some of my favorite co-op games last generation!Īll three of the Army of Two games, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand (I'm still amazed that game wasn't garbage), Kane and Lynch 1 & 2, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory & Blacklist, FUSE, and Gears of War are at the very top of my favorite co-op moments.
